Join the Periscope Project for a one-hour, case-based educational webinar focused on preconception counseling for patients with a history of psychiatric conditions. Two expert psychiatrists will walk through real-world scenarios to guide decision-making and optimize care.
Objectives
- Principles to consider when counseling a preconception patient with a mental health history.
- Review the epidemiology of recurrent mental health episodes in a perinatal patient.
Cases will include:
- A patient with a single episode of isolated postpartum psychosis considering future pregnancies
- A patient with a history of major depressive disorder, including a suicide attempt and hospitalization
- Preconception planning in collaboration with primary care for a patient in early recovery from alcohol use disorder
This interactive session will highlight practical strategies for risk assessment, treatment planning, and collaborative care to support patients with mental health history in their family-building goals.
