From Evidence to Action: Applying Perinatal Psychiatry Research to your Practice

April 8, 2026 | 12–1 p.m. calendar icon iCAL

Presenter
Caitlin McCarthy, MD

Objectives

  1. Learn how to critically appraise evidence-based research.
  2. Summarize the limitations of research within perinatal psychiatry.

Description
Join us for a dynamic, journal club–style webinar where we take a new influential article in perinatal psychiatry and walk through it together. This session will demonstrate the critical appraisal process used in evidence-based medicine – helping you understand not just what the research says, but how to evaluate its quality and relevance before changing your clinical practice.

In this session, we will be reviewing the 2022 article Association of Antidepressant Use During Pregnancy With Risk of Neurodevelopmental Disorders in Children.

When a new article comes out, why don’t we immediately adopt its recommendations? Learn how to separate strong evidence from hype and apply findings thoughtfully to patient care.
