Managing mental health during pregnancy and lactation often involves complex decisions about medication safety. In this interactive, case-based discussion, Periscope’s Psychiatrists will lead a conversation to review real-world scenarios involving antidepressants, anxiolytics, and sleep aids. Together, they will unpack the risks and considerations for both mother and baby and share practical principles for prescribing psychiatric medications during lactation. This session is designed to provide clinicians with actionable insights and confidence when navigating these challenging cases.

  1. Describe the risks of antidepressants, anxiolytics and sleep aids in pregnancy and lactation.
  2. List three principles to consider when prescribing psychiatric medications in a lactating patient.
